About CaniVax & Our Scientific Approach
Canine cancer remains a major unmet medical need, with treatment options often constrained by toxicity and quality-of-life considerations. CaniVax addresses this gap through its tumour-specific cancer vaccines developed through its disciplined and proprietary, evidence-led approach.
Our Mission
CaniVax's mission is to develop a new range of effective cancer vaccines for dogs, supported by state-of-the-art science, translational studies, and clinical evidence, with strict regulatory alignment.
Our company's goal is to contribute new treatments that are biologically informed, carefully evaluated and integrated into veterinary practice through appropriate clinical and regulatory pathways.
Who we are
CaniVax is an Oxford based veterinary biotechnology company focused on applying advances in cancer immunology and vaccination to dog cancers. The company brings together expertise in cancer biology, translational science, and veterinary oncology to address cancers where existing treatment options remain limited.
The company's platforms and expertise are derived from leading research institutes, universities and biopharma companies. The company is ideally positioned to realise its mission of bringing new cancer vaccines to the forefront of canine therapy.
The company works in collaboration with academic and translational researchers, veterinary professionals and commercial teams, recognising that meaningful progress requires close alignment between scientific discovery, clinical reality and commercial acumen.
Our Approach
CaniVax's work centres on the identification of tumour antigens that can guide immune responses towards the cancer. Rather than relying on broadly acting treatments, our approach focuses on immune specificity and limited side effects, and overcomes a major problem of current treatment options.
Development follows a scientific framework, beginning with antigen discovery and establishing immune relevance, and progressing through vaccine design, manufacturing and testing in veterinary clinical studies conducted under appropriate regulatory authorisation. At each stage, decisions are driven by data rather than assumption.
"Our focus is on building therapies that are effective, clinically important, and genuinely useful in veterinary practice for treating ill dogs" - CaniVax COO
Our Principles
Scientific
rigour
Programmes advance reflecting biological and immunological evidence.
Clinical responsibility
Vaccines developed with veterinary oversight and patient welfare as a priority.
Transparency & Trust
We communicate progress and the limitations of our vaccine products without overstating outcomes or timelines.
Respect for families
Ultimate decisions about care remain with dog owners and their veterinary teams.
Scope and current status
CaniVax programmes are investigational and under active development. Initial efforts focus on a limited number of high-incidence canine cancers where tumour biology, clinical need, and immune targeting potential align.
Scientific and clinical updates will be shared as programmes reach defined milestones.
